A Great Big Thanks goes to all the local musicians who shared their beautiful holiday music at the Library on December 13th throughout the day!  The Library patrons and the staff enjoyed hearing the music provided by:

Local Newspapers are now digitized, 1871-1977


The Library is thrilled to announce the availability of a new online historical research tool free for anyone who has access to the Internet! The digitization project was funded with grants from the Madison County Historical Society, Madison County Genealogical Society, and a family foundation. 

Point your internet to and you will discover the digitized version of The Winterset Madisonian and all its title variations from 1871-1977, and also the various years of The Winterset News, The Winterset Reporter, The Winterset Review, The Madison County Reporter, and all their title variations.



Browse the Library's online catalog from the convenience of your cell phones and tablets using MobilePAC to:


  • Search and browse the online catalog
  • Renew items
  • Check library hours and contact information
  • Log in to "My Account" to check for messages from the Library
  • View titles patron has checked out and dates due

Ongoing Programs

Book Discussion Group - 4th Thursday, of month, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Community Coffee Group - meet at the Chesnut building at 300 W. Hutchings Street, Winterset (west of the hospital) during the Library construction project, every Friday from 9:00 - 10:00 am

Friends Meeting - 2nd Thursday, of the month, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm

Library Board of Trustees - 3rd Wednesday, of month, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Story Time - every Wednesday & Thursday at 10:30 for preschoolers ages 3 and up.

Teens with Tonja - every 1st Saturday from 2:30-4:00.  Call the Library to sign up.

Toddler Tuesday - every Tuesday at 10:30 for ages 0-2.

Writer's Workshop - first Thursday, of the month, from 7:00 - 8:30 pm
