For Children

Programs and services especially for children.

We hold two storytimes every week of the year. They are held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:30-11:00 am.  Children must be age 3 to pre-kindergarten to attend.  Choose either Wednesday's or Thursday's session as Thursday is a repeat of Wednesday.

Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program, for children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade, is held during the months of June and July, with a swimming party as a grand finale.

The Philosophy of the Library's Service to Children

The Children's Department strives to serve the whole child, including recreational, informational, and cultural book needs.  Parents, teachers, organizations, church youth workers, authors and artists in the children's field may all find the Children's collection to be useful and inspirational.

The Children's Department serves children from infancy through 6th or 7th grade.  Children with learning disabilities and children who are advanced readers are also served here.  Materials are selected by the Children's Librarian through regular examination of various professional reviewing publications.
